Reclamation:

Reclamation at Terrene Environmental involves restoring abandoned wellsites to its former state. We begin with a pre-reclamation site assessment, collecting data through pictures, soil analysis, landowner interviews and historical research. Once approvals are acquired, the project begins with earthwork that can include soil stripping, contouring and soil replacement. Farm work, such as tilling, seeding, and spraying, may be necessary based on land use. Our goal is to satisfy all involved parties, while returning the site to its natural state or end land use. The site is monitored until Detailed Site Assessments and Certifications are complete.

Vegetation Management:

Vegetation Management at Terrene Environmental is essential in establishing plant species specific to the project and meeting reclamation objectives. We blend biological requirements to meet landowner expectations while following the 2010 Reclamation Criteria for Well sites and Associated Facilities. We ensure a functioning ecosystem is established over time through proper vegetation management. Staff continue monitoring well sites for weed control, seed establishment, soil conditions as well as other factors that may require action in achieving successful certification.

Detailed Site Assessment:

Terrene Environmental follows the 2010 Reclamation Criteria set by the Government of Alberta in its Detailed Site Assessment evaluation. Terrene Environmental follows a record of observation tool that establishes specific measurements and guidelines. This unbiased tool determines if a wellsite is certifiable or needs further stability.

Reclamation Certificate Application:

After completing and digitizing the Detailed Site Assessment into the Record of Observation, Terrene Environmental submits an online application through the Alberta Energy Regulator website. The site must meet reclamation criteria based on its final land use. We maintain close contact with landowners for any additional comments or questions before submission. A One Stop application is submitted and the Project Manager along with the clients thoroughly review all Reclamation Certificate applications. Pertinent information is attached and maintained by the Alberta Energy Regulator.
