2026 Alberta Soils Tour & The Alberta Soil Science Workshop

The team at Terrene Environmental attended the 2026 Alberta Soils Tour. This is a two day event that explores the Southern Alberta region of the Palliser’s Triangle within the Medicine Hat area. The Soil Science Workshop includes observations of Chernozems, Solonetz, Brunisols and Regosols on floodplains. Parent materials covered included glacial till, glaciolacustrine and aeolian sediments with recent fluvial deposits.

Terrene Environmental prides itself in continuous education and current practices in land reclamation. 

2026 Pedology Field School

Staff at Terrene Environmental attended the 2026 Pedology Field School in the Lac la Nonne region. This course was provided by Onterris and offered a three full day event that was led by Dr. Konstantin Dlusskiy. 

This 24 hour introductory soils course was 100% field based with hands on experiences and application to industry standards. The course included soil pit and landscape descriptions, field diagnostics of soil properties and processes, soil classification to subgroup level of the Canadian System of Soil Classification, soil sampling protocols and Hazards associated with ground disturbance and the Alberta One Call procedure.
